A heart of Thanksgiving to God

Many a times we forget to thank God for the many things he has done for us. All we remember to do is ask, ask and ask. There’s a saying in Igbo language ” If you praise a king for what he has done , he will do more.

God loves a grateful heart, so we have to develop a heart of thanksgiving. The book of malachi 2:2 says “If ye will not hear, and if ye will not lay it to heart, to give glory unto my name, saith the Lord of hosts, I will even send a curse upon you, and I will curse your blessings: yea, I have cursed them already, because ye do not lay it to heart”.

And psalm 50:14 says “Sacrifice thank offerings to God, fulfill your vows to the Most High, and call on me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor me.”

Read psalm 95:2, psalm 100:4, psalm 107:22 etc See what the Lord says in Jeremiah 30:19-22

19 And out of them shall proceed thanksgiving and the voice of them that make merry: and I will multiply them, and they shall not be few; I will also glorify them, and they shall not be small. 20 Their children also shall be as aforetime, and their congregation shall be established before me, and I will punish all that oppress them. 21 And their nobles shall be of themselves, and their governor shall proceed from the midst of them; and I will cause him to draw near, and he shall approach unto me: for who is this that engaged his heart to approach unto me? saith the LORD. 22 And ye shall be my people, and I will be your God.

We receive more blessings when we thank him for the things that he has done for us. If you sit down and count your blessings, you will be amazed at the many things that he has done. Because sometimes, even before we open our mouth to ask, he answers.

On many occasions, God answers my prayers even before I ask. I can’t even count them because there are too numerous to mention. And there’s absolutely nothing I ask God that he doesn’t do for me.

Make a list of what God has done for you this year, and the things that he hasn’t done and compare them. If you do not have anything to thank him for, atleast , thank him for the air which you breathe for free. Some people pay for oxygen just to stay alive, and we all know that oxygen is very expensive because you pay for it hourly. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy with pressures from 1.5 – 2.2 atm cost in the USA varies from $200 to $2,500 per session depending on where you are doing it. Cost is generally per session (1-2 hours).

It is even better to thank God more and ask less, because you receive more blessings in thanksgiving than in asking. Asking does not move God, but praise and thanksgiving does.
