But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour. If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work. 2 Timothy 2:20 – 26
We always expect to find only good people in the house of God, which is not bad because that is how it is supposed to be. But ironically, that is not the case. The bible makes us to understand that in the the house of God, you will also find mischievous people as long as satan still exist.
So we are disappointed when we hear cases of rape, stealing, kidnap, and all sort of atrocities in the house of God. Even in the house of God, you will find different kinds of people, the good, the bad and the ugly. Just the way find you find good, kind, peaceful, caring, merciful etc people, that’s the way you will also find rapist, kidnappers, thieves, occultic men etc.
The good people are vessels of honour, these are people who allow themselves to be used by God, they obey God’s word, pray for other people, are not selfish, they are kind, humbly, meek, peaceful, they help the poor, visit the sick etc.
While the bad people are vessels of dishonour, these ones allow themselves to be used by satan. They are the rapist, thieves, kidnappers, trouble makers, wicked etc.
So are you a vessel unto honour or dishonour?
