Four students of the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Gubi, Bauchi, today died after a bridge they were walking inside the university campus collapsed.
The bridge collapsed when a heavy rainfall with about twenty students on it when the tragedy struck, according to students.
The students have since trooped to the university gate to specific discontentedness to the school authority over the incident.
“Joseph, my friend was among those that were getting back from library to hostel when the iron bridge collapsed,” a student told Youthwinconnect. “We recovered textbooks, wrappers and a few of them are still missing.”
“All calls pass on to the management asking them to come for help weren’t going through,” a viewer aforementioned. “Four of our students died – 3 females and a male. Some are in the hospital and there are still some that haven’t been found.”
The police in Bauchi confirmed the event and referred journalists to the University’s PR unit for details.
When our correspondent visited the scene of the accident, the university security and students were sorting out missing victims underwater where the iron bridge collapsed.
Police officers were conjointly on the scene to manage matters.
