Gov. Aminu Masari of Katsina State has urged parents and guardians to present their children/wards below the age of 5 years for immunization against child-killer diseases.
Masari gave the recommendation via a state-wide broadcast on saturday.
“We are calling on parents to present their youngsters for immunization against contagious disease, tetanus, infectious disease, polio, Diphtheria, and for B Calmette–Guérin (BCG) vaccination.
“The state government’s health officers can immunise youngsters within the thirty four Local government Areas at no cost,” he said.
The governor aforesaid “no parent is predicted to pay one kobo” to induce their youngsters or wards vaccinated.
He added that the government had procured enough vaccines for the 14-day exercise.
Masari lauded donor agencies for operating closely with the government to make sure success of the exercise.
News Agency of Federal Republic of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the government intends to immunise a minimum of a pair of 2.5 million youngsters against the child-killer diseases within the state.
