Ousted President of Tunisia Zine El Abidine Ben Ali dies at the age of 83

Ousted President of Tunisia Zine El Abidine Ben Ali died on Thursday September nineteen, while on exile in Saudi Arabia.

Before his death, Ben Ali has been in medical aid unit of an undisclosed hospital for 3 months when battling adenocarcinoma for years. He died at the age of eighty three, days to a free presidential election in his country of origin.

“Ben Ali simply died in Saudi Arabia,” family attorney Mounir mount Salha told Reuters press agency by phone.

Tunisia’s government minister, Khemaies Jhinaoui additionally confirmed the death of Ben Ali who dominated Republic of Tunisia for twenty three years and massed a vast fortune.

Some claimed that the previous Tunisan despot who came to power in November 1987 when convincing doctors to declare that the previous president-for-life Habib Bourguiba was doddery and unfit to rule, took one-and-a-half tonnes of gold with him to Saudi Arabia, taken from Tunisia’s financial organisation.

Ben Ali fled Republic of Tunisia in January 2011 as his compatriots rose up against his oppressive rule a revolution that impressed different Arab Spring uprisings abroad and led to a democratic transition reception.
