Prof Wole Soyinka raises an alarm over the Nigerian educational


Wole Soyinka on Sunday Oct thirteen, raised an alarm over the Nigerian academic system that he said is in serious trouble.

In his speech at the presentation of a play entitled ‘Folly of Men’ (an adaptation of 3 plays from Soyinka’s ‘Trial of Brother Jero’, Femi Osofisan’s ‘No additional the Wasted Breed’, and indicate Sowande’s ‘Mamiwater’s Wedding’) to mark the ninetieth day of the govt. faculty Ibadan at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Soyinka represented the Nigerian academic system as ‘horrifying’.

He also said that the country is extremely low education wise, and there ought to be additional effort in creating individuals understand what education is.

“We are in serious trouble, education wise during this country.  it’s atrocious,” the laureate said.

“That was why I was happy concerning the initiative of making a model college and making an attempt to resurrect this Government faculty and present it as the ideal. we are very very low, education wise.

“I have learnt what proportion they (old students association) have worn out the previous couple of days and that I am terribly pleased with their work. I simply hope the govt. leaves them alone; don’t interfere with them. allow them to bring back to everybody’s mind the chance of what education is.”
