Banky W has shared his experience with robbers who told him to sing for them after robbing him in Lagos Island.
The singer who spoke at ‘Monday Night Live’, a programme hosted by a Gospel performing artist Tim Godfrey said the incident occurred on a precise New Year’s Eve night ‘crossover’ service after he dropped off a friend.
Banky W said, “He remembered that one New Year’s Eve night ‘crossover’ service, he was on his way to the island after dropping off a friend. On progressing to where his friends were, he stopped and alighted. The next thing he felt was a slap at his face. When he looked up, he saw four armed robbers. He opted to give them the key of his car. They slapped him, saying, ‘Who wants your car’? They told him to move to the rear seat of the car where they used my car to rob others. They took my cash, jewellery, phone and cap.”
He said “At some point, one amongst the armed robbers told the others, ‘Let us take him to Ajah and kill him.’ I started begging them to not kill me. I told them i’m a singer. They then asked me to tell them the songs I had recorded. After I mentioned ‘Ebute Metta’ ‘Capable’ et al., the robbers expressed surprise locution, ‘So you’re Mr Capable? Sing for us.’ That was the scariest free show I ever did in my life. I had to sing to armed robbers.”
