NFF appoints former Super Eagles Captain Joseph Yobo as assistant coach of the Nigeria

On Wednesday, the NFF appointed former Super Eagles Captain and former Everton participant Joseph Yobo as assistant coach of the Nigeria Senior Men’s’ soccer crew, eliciting blended reactions amongst soccer fans.

Yobo, with no earlier teaching expertise, or teaching certification replaces Imama Amapakabo as the assistant coach to Head coach Gernot Rohr.

Yobo since retirement has labored as an NFF ambassador and TV pundit with SuperSports.

Some see the transfer as a very good one for Nigerian soccer whereas others imagine it’s a political transfer aimed to switch Gernot Rohr.
