A few days ago, the Canadian prime minister, Justin Trudeau, made an announcement. He said that the Canadian government and Canada’s major airlines have agreed to suspend services to some destinations ( Mexico and the Caribbean ) starting from February 2021 to 30th April 2021. This is to curb the spread of Covid-19.
The prime minister also said that in coming weeks, all international flights must land only at the following four airports: Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, and Montreal, in addition to the pre-boarding test they have already acquired as soon as possible.
Justin Trudeau said in the coming weeks, they will introduce PCR testing at the airport for people returning to Canada. Travelers will have to wait for three days at the approved hotel for their test results at their own expense, which is expected to be more than two thousand dollars.
Those with negative test results will then be able to quarantine at home under significantly increased surveillance. While those who test positive will be immediately required to quarantine in the designated government facilities. To make sure they are not carrying variance of potential concern.
He also said that the Canadian government will be requiring non-essential travelers to show negative test results before entering the land border with the US.
And they are working to stand up additional testing requirements for land travelers. So if you are planning to travel to Canada this period, this is not a good time. Most especially if you are going on a visit, the reason is that, if you test positive, every expense you will incur at the hotel where you will be staying during the isolation period will be paid by you.
So after paying for flights and visas, you will still spend more when you get to Canada, even before you get to your destination. Then, if you test negative, you must quarantine for another 11 days to complete the 14 days quarantine. So you do three days at the hotel and 11 days at your destination. Also, note that the three days which you will stay at the hotel is at your expense.
Like the prime minister said, those who test negative would have to quarantine at home under significantly increased surveillance. They discovered that people who test negative do not quarantine at home for 14 days. So they have set up strict rules. If you are caught, you will either pay a fine of 750 dollars or serve a jail term.
So you have to think very well before you make up your mind to travel to Canada this period. Feel free to send in your comments. You can also like and share. Do not forget to follow us for updates.
