Although it’s unclear what faction the terrorist belonged to, the attack was applied same day the factional leader of Boko Haram Abubakar Shekau discharged a brand new video, reiterating his resolve to continue his insurgent against Nigeria.
In the twenty-six minutes video, a visibly ageing Shekau reiterated his anti-government messages and distastes for Western influence.
But an analyst at the Anthony Charles Lynton Blair Institute for international modification Audu Bukarti aforesaid “video is meant to recruit fighters, funders and sympathizers.
“It demonstrates that Shekau is alive which he’s committed to his group’s ideology as continuously.”
Boko Haram split into 2 factions in mid-2016. One is led by Abu Mus’ab Al-Barnawi and mostly focuses on assaultive military and government targets, whereas the opposite, led by Abubakar Shekau, is disreputable for suicide bombings and indiscriminate killings of civilians.
Shekau has pledged allegiance to ISIS leader Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi, however ISIS central gave its formal backing to the Barnawi faction, that is understood as Muslim State West Africa province.
Nigeria’s government and military have repeatedly insisted Boko Haram has been degraded however multiple attacks from insurgent cluster suggests otherwise.
